Being a Lesbian IS a legitimate identity. We created a whole worldwide culture around it. Its an entire Worldview that puts womyn first,foremost, forever. Our erotic Lesbian Sexuality is the glue that binds us together. We are in serious danger of losing this rich Female centered Culture.
Otherwise like around here, its merely a sexual orientation and no sense of any particular solidarity with other Lesbians except as love/sex objects cuz everyone is one big happy queer community..( M.A. rolls eyes).

What burns me up is the term " self identify". Either you ARE a thing or you are not. A right on observation:
"Men don't perform femininity,
they self-objectify. Femininity isn't a performance, it's oppression forced on women.
Women do not "perform" our oppression. Only men have the luxury of reframing their modes of controlling us as an art or self-expression.
When men tell us femininity is a performance, they are revealing two things:
1) their own ignorance of what it means to be a woman in a male-dominated world;
2) they are entertained by our violent subjugation.
Femininity is more than makeup. It's more than beauty standards. Femininity is the expectation that certain behaviors and roles for women done to us by force are natural and inevitable.
Femininity is forced birth, forced child care, it's FGM and punishment for showing anger or speaking up. It's murdering lesbians. It's the women whose health detoriates because of the cleaning products they use as underpaid "maids".
Femininity is criminalizing rape victims, it's anorexia, it's reduced pay, it's the fear of walking alone at night. It's the sex industry, it's sexual harassment, saying she was asking for it. Femininity naturalizes sex oppression and rationalizes punishing women who speak up.
Reducing femininity to makeup or dresses is what men do, because it isn't forced on them. It's an insult to all women but especially the most exploited. Reducing femininity to performance is a neoliberal, male-centered view which ignores how femininity is used to control women.
Men never "perform femininity" by scrubbing a toilet or demanding a pay reduction. They demand to be "treated like a woman" then complain about exclusion with no awareness that being "treated like a woman" means more than exclusion, it means living in fear of male violence.
Men who demand to be treated like women see femininity and women ourselves as nothing more than sex positions they can adopt. Submissive, full make-up, validated in their delusion by a photoshoot in Playboy, claiming lesbians oppress them by refusing to have sex with men.
It's no surprise that men are claiming entitlement to female identity at the very time that women worldwide are waking up to our power, claiming our voice, and taking men to task for violence against us. They are desperately trying to get our attention and derail us.
It also comes as no surprise that men are claiming to be women at the same time that porn is fully saturating the internet, as is Instagram, and sexual objectification has become the common currency of our social media culture.
In the age of influencers and followers, men are enforcing their entitlement to influence the very definition of women's reality, and especially to keep us from acknowledging the farce we've been fed all our lives: that gender is not natural, that men created and uphold it, that they benefit from naturalizing our inferior status via free labor and constant access to our bodies.
The rise innate gender ideology - the mainstreaming of associating freedom with porn, prostitution, cosmetics - is the male backlash to women's global uprising against our subjugation; it is a violent attempt to redirect women back to men's vision of how we women should be: that a woman is not a body, and therefore not a person, not human; that a woman is a feeling a man has, a woman is a fantasy of high heels, makeup and submission.

Fantastic when I hear the Truth in relation to us Females and the battle so many of us are engaged in and have been for many years. ESPECIALLY us Lesbians.
I just talked to a Lesbian last night who talked to me after a show. She lived in a bigger city and I asked her was there ANY Lesbian community there? Potlucks, gatherings, meetings for Lesbians? She rattled off bars and some mixed event for lesbians and gays held at or put on by or at a church.
I told her I dont do bars and asked her are there SPECIFICALLY LESBIAN events where I can tap in to meet other Lesbians like potlucks, groups, other gatherings?
She said " there used to be but nothing so Separatist anymore." THAT truly saddened me. I told her in this here town and area there are only drag shows which I have NO interest in, our local Pride and NOTHING whatsoever by and for LESBIANS!!
I let her know womyn BOUGHT the Michfest Land and that I intend to go to one of the Festivals they will be putting on next year. Its the FIRST TIME in a very long time I have had a REAL conversation with an ACTUAL LESBIAN LIVE about the state of community, or seeking it. I suppose language is funny. After all, if you can insist that the word "woman" means something other than "adult female human," I suppose you can be a betrayer of women, children, and the poor and still call yourself a "liberal."
Why not just say it? You care more about the delusions and perversions of entitled white men who irrationally claim to be women than you do about the safety of actual women.
You want these men to share bathroom spaces with us. Their feelings are more important than women's comfort and safety.
You want these men to colonize domestic violence, homeless shelters, and jails to be housed among women. Their feelings are more important to you than women's comfort and safety.
You want schoolchildren, K through 12, to use "unigender" -- the word means nothing; the term is mixed-sex-- bathrooms because some kids claim to be the other sex. Their feelings are more important to you than girls' comfort and safety.
And you criticize and charge lesbians with bigotry because they don't choose to sleep with men who claim to be women. Their feelings are more important to you than lesbians' comfort and safety.
And yet you pride yourself on being a liberal because you're pro-gay and lesbian, because you're a "feminist," because you care about kids, the homeless, domestic violence victims, and the imprisoned ... right?

Tell Me About Those Times
As a Butch Dyke Amazon Elder I talked about the times we were almost free to be. Where we had a place 5 to 10,000 Amazon Lesbian/ Dykes/ Womyn Gathered every year and expressed EVERY aspect of Lesbian Love. Not only was there wild lovemaking in the woods, usually at night, away from the eyes of children, there was live music, the best our communities had to offer, rituals, workshops on every subject imaginable, and creativity,from body painting, stilt walking, fire eating and fire dancing, to the constant sounds of drums,our steady Heartbeat.
There were Parades for all forms of womonhood,both for Butches and for Femmes, redheads, girls on stilts and even a naked Parade right around dinnertime.
The explosion of creativity and honor and worship of the Female in EVERY aspect was IMMENSE. Beyond anything modern day. A total and complete Amazon Matriarchy.
I and so many other Lesbians and Females opened up to the deepest level of our Souls, accessed hidden psychic Powers that only come out on the Land,among womyn,where we are truly FREE. Some refer to it as " woo". But it is REAL.
When I came on the Land for the first time,I could put down my Weapons as an Amazon. Those heavy burdens and layers of protection I always carried in the world of men. I no longer needed to pour so much energy into Protection, I could Feel and connect with the sheer Gynergy...amongst the likeminded. I did not have to explain Myself .
I was Understood and ALL my Dyke communities came together, from Magical Goddess worshipping high Ritual of 400 womyn, to Leather Wildness in the Twilight Zone, to Dykes in recovery, to Matriarchal Jewish Dykes, to the Butch Parade which was BETTER than the Dyke March because we were surrounded by womyn. Males werent trying to crash it, we could flirt with each other as Butch on Butch, and Femmes flirted with us on the sidelines. They had THEIR moment in their parade...and us Butches led by Drummers and my Sister Butch DykeAmazons!!
Everywhere was Female and Lesbian art honoring our bodies, our minds, our Sacred Female Spirits. A Goddess statue 30 feet tall in a grove.
Closest to me were Matriarchal JewWitch Sisters at the Shabbat honoring the Shekinah. THAT was my ethnic Tribe...
Only in the company of a town, village, City of womyn and the erotic Magic between us, do I come out of my cage and my Full WildWomyn Amazon Self emerges. I have to cut off so many parts of myself to just exist in the Patriarchy. So much of my deepest Self unacknowledged.
Unless we shake off now the last dying claws of Patriarchal rule, we will go back to the Dark ages, for Lesbians and for womyn as a whole. But WE Remember, when we were FREE!!!

Peak Trans-3 Decades of Destruction of the Dyke Communities
It would take too long. Suffice it to say, anytime I advocated for Lesbian or WBW space or spaces, I got shouted down, but THAT is where I thrive. Trans " women" are male. In all but their appearance they act male and assume male privilege, and in their appearance very few on any level pass as Female. There is ALWAYS something off. The way they move, act and dress is often overboard or a throwback. Instead of deferring to lifelong Females, our experiences, our pain, the discrimination we have faced, the sheer oppression, our Female Tribal ways if you will, they utterly dismiss us. They dont come into our Tribe with respect, honor our boundaries, our pain, like someone entering a Native Tribe or foreign culture who had been invited in to partake of their ceremonies and their ways...instead they impose wanting all the glamour but none of the hard work or drudgery or danger or difficulty.
They don't march for Prochoice or access to birth control or abortion, because they NEVER will have to worry about those things.
They dont accept Lesbian boundaries when we say NO, or you cannot be one of us, we will accept you here in some womens spaces, but you are born male, so not in our sex lives, be with bisexual/ pan/ queer women instead.
The FTMS want to remain in the Lesbian communities ( or rather the shell of whats left of them) rather than get out and live their " male" lives as earlier FTMS did. It saddened me they transitioned making every Butch that much more alone and vulnerable as our Butch communities got vacated.
No they INSISTED we allow them to stay even WHILE they insist on male pronouns, facial and body hair and lowered artificially induced voices from T, strapped down or surgically removed breasts and growing sexist male attitudes displaying anger and rage from the use of T or hypersexualized behaviors. Loss of their beautiful Female souls, covered up by the hormones and identifying WITH males instead of US.
FOR ALMOST 3 DECADES Ive endured watching this grow and grow and grow while Lesbians and us Dyke Butches get left behind, our Dyke communities infiltrated, coopted, and torn to shreds, while the pharmaceuticals psyches, Docs and surgeons make $$$$ off of us, then turn to tomboy girl and sissy boy children...

many of women's differences come when we align ourselves w men's movements. left/right; communism/socialism; dums/repugs it really doesn't matter, women will be screwed EVERY TIME by any and all of men's ideologies. this has been guaranteed globally and historically; this will not change.
as long as we align ourselves with men's regimes we will be divided. when women come to understand that every woman is her sister regardless of what they believe or who they align themselves with, we can begin to focus on the problem; men.
i don't need to convince western women of anything. there are 4 billion women who desperately want their freedom; these are the sisters who don't have time to argue ideology; these are women who don't get to make their own choices; these are women kept impoverished and silenced. THESE are the women we are obligated to fight for--not western white women who have the luxury to make choices...who cares? besides they are not the enemy, we are simply women who are given shitty choices and we make shitty decisions.
we need to get over ourselves and each other and do the very best we can to use our privileged resources to help the women truly enslaved in poverty, in sex slavery, in forced marriages, forced slave labor; as citizens with no rights, no resources, not even the rights to their bodies and their children.

we OWE the women of the world; WE!, every one of us has lived off the backs of women's labor; we all have been given western luxuries provided by female slavery throughout the world. We need to begin to consider THEM. And what this looks like is different for each of us...if we do nothing more than to never harm another woman we've done good; if we do nothing more than to end animosity between us then we've done good; if we do nothing more than to teach our daughters to be strong women then that's a wonderful thing...and as we rise we create space for other women to rise; we owe this to ourselves and we owe this to our Sisters. they are us and we are them; the only thing that separates us is where and when we were born and under what regime; close those arbitrary, random experiences, and We are ALL the same.

many of women's differences come when we align ourselves w men's movements. left/right; communism/socialism; dums/repugs it really doesn't matter, women will be screwed EVERY TIME by any and all of men's ideologies. this has been guaranteed globally and historically; this will not change.
as long as we align ourselves with men's regimes we will be divided. when women come to understand that every woman is her sister regardless of what they believe or who they align themselves with, we can begin to focus on the problem; men.
i don't need to convince western women of anything. there are 4 billion women who desperately want their freedom; these are the sisters who don't have time to argue ideology; these are women who don't get to make their own choices; these are women kept impoverished and silenced. THESE are the women we are obligated to fight for--not western white women who have the luxury to make choices...who cares? besides they are not the enemy, we are simply women who are given shitty choices and we make shitty decisions.
we need to get over ourselves and each other and do the very best we can to use our privileged resources to help the women truly enslaved in poverty, in sex slavery, in forced marriages, forced slave labor; as citizens with no rights, no resources, not even the rights to their bodies and their children.

Parker, Long and Allen
Took America by storm
Into the home of power they strode
The country to inform
Other women spoke their piece
Their voices powerful and strong
But the dragon in his lair was faced
By Parker and by Long.
A wizard who by foul means
Disguised himself as female
By spells and such would take their rights
And hand them all to males
With swords in hand they braved the cave
The wizard was within
But being not the male sex
They were invisible to him
So he continued with his evil work
To make all women slaves
His message spread to other lands
His wants were making waves
Warriors began to fall
Under the wizard spell
Accusations flew of crimes
And wrong-thinking as well
Parker’s fighting skills were trashed
Her allies deemed as demons
Her castle named a rich man’s house
Her plans as mere scheming
We must silence her they cried
Her voice is not the right one
She don’t look right, the darkness looms
When former allies get their spite on
Forget about those captured young
Forget about their wounds
Forget about the war that comes
Just send out the hounds
To tear her down, defeat her now
Our oppression does not matter
To keep her quiet, we’ll hand our rights
Over on a silver platter
Our warriors have to look right
Wrong speak is not permitted
Your past examined for all wrongs

Centering Women....
Centering women is ALWAYS problematic in a patriarchy, which is WHY we must continually do so, even if leaders, and others try to sell us out. Refusing male control drives them nuts.
Feminism, Women's Liberation and Women's Marches are about Females, NOT born males who can NEVER BE US!! Women are about to lose the right to choose, us Lesbians cannot put sexual boundaries around our communities or even our own persons because of these males who INSIST they are one of us. NOT.
We still are not represented at least 50% in all fields and legislatures , had our woman President stolen away from us, we are no freer, in fact theres been alot of slipping backwards, young girls and women hate their female bodies and the lack of full freedom women have that they want to be " men" , and the drs, psyches, surgeons and pharmaceuticals are only too willing to accomodate that self hatred.
We women, feminists, Lesbians, have PLENTY of OUR OWN WORK to do, plenty of attacks upon our persons, words, ideas, work that we need NOT accomodate males and their negative views. - M.A.

“Burn the witch,” they shouted as they burned the local women
Herbalists and midwives, seen as something less than human
“Burn the witch,” they shouted, as those who’d not obey,
Who used their voice to question, were carried right away
To torture and to horrors to painful fiery death
For speaking up for women for working for the women
For being just a woman, till their final anguished breath
“Burn the witch”, they shouted as they took our rights away
“Burn the witch”, they shouted, “We don’t need you anyway
You are cis, you’re our oppressors we are women, you are witches
We are female, we are special, anything we do is oh so special
All our needs are oh so special. You are terfs and you are bitches
You’re not speaking for all women, we are special, with our feelings
You are wicked and inhuman, we are so much more appealing
With our lady dicks and fake boobs and our soft and gentle voices
Your men all know they want us everybody wants us
All of you really want us if you were given real choices
We will stop you from your meetings we will call you names and hate you
We will lie and sneak and threaten. If you speak up we’ll berate you
We will infiltrate your groups and
we will physically attack you
And say that it was justified, you know that we are justified
Our behaviour’s always justified, when we reach out and smack you
We will not allow your writing, we will burn your books and lie
About your violence and hatred, we will force you to comply
We will threaten you with fire, as we did the hags before
We will burn you like we burned them. We will torch you like we burned them
We’re not sorry that we burned them This is war
And the women said “somethings always seem the same
But we will stand up for all women and not give in to this con game
You are male in your actions, you are male through and through
Your violence is merely. Your politics are merely
Your sex habits are just merely male entitlement shining through
We will not let our voices be silenced once again
We speak up for our mothers, our grandmothers and their pain
And we will keep on fighting and saying men cannot be us

Many of our own Sisters sold us out, but so has the bi and gay male communities, though some gay men are starting to wake up when they see they will not be able to keep their gay male identities and spaces intact.
But it has affected us Lesbians from both directions far longer.
